Sadly, the bad news about plastic and our health keeps coming.
We have recently noticed far more attention paid to the ever-growing plastic crisis in mainstream media. We should all be deeply alarmed. We must change our relationship with single-use plastic.
We McSisters typically send out blogs on Monday. This is an extra. We received very positive feedback about the Halloween blog we published at the start of October.

When we started researching the perils of plastic, we learned that the single-use plastics we rely on were most likely made in a factory located next to communities of marginalized individuals or people of color.
Remember when toilet paper was not wrapped in plastic packaging? Maybe you don’t because those days are largely gone.
We learned about Judith Enck through our plastic networking with friends. Judith is a highly dedicated professional and advocate with a long, distinguished career in environmental protection issues. She was the Regional Administrator at the US Environmental Protection Agency appointed by President Obama and served as Deputy Secretary for the Environment in the New York Governor’s office.

Just look around you and see how much waste we produce – it’s quite incredible that our culture and others all over the world have become the single-use culture. It’s not just plastic, but just about everything.
Scientific study after study is accumulating more and more information about the extensive impact of single-use plastic on our health and environment. It’s in the air we breathe, in the plastic water and drink bottles we use, and in the plastic-wrapped food products we eat.
Did you know that recent statistics suggest that every year 50 billion disposable cups are used in the United States – and nearly all of those cups are lined with plastic and used with plastic lids?
Today is Earth Day – a day to highlight the importance of protecting the environment and to take actions to protect the environment for future generations. The theme for this year’s Earth Day is Planet vs. Plastic.
